Privacy policy

What we collect
- Nothing to browse. You can look at every page on Melay without an account, and we set no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Favourites are stored in your own browser (localStorage) on this device only. They are never sent to us and we cannot see them.
- Usage statistics: cookie-less, aggregated counts of page views, searches and outbound clicks. We do not store IP addresses; a hashed identifier rotates every day so visits cannot be linked over time.
- Search terms are stored without any identifier so we can see what the catalogue is missing.
- Merchant applications and removal requests: the name, email, phone and business details you type into those forms, used only to assess the request.
What we do not do
- We do not take payment, so we never see card or banking details.
- No advertising cookies, no behavioural targeting, no selling of personal data.
- We do not share your details with merchants unless you ask us to introduce you.
When you tap through to a merchant
The link opens the merchant's own website. From that moment their privacy policy and terms
apply, not ours. We add a utm_source=melay tag to the link so the merchant can see
the visit came from Melay; it contains nothing about you.
Your choices
- Clear your browser storage to remove favourites at any time.
- Ask us to delete an application or request you sent us: privacy@shopmelay.com.
